Head of the Verkhovna Rada Arseniy Yatsenyuk considers the practice of conducting financial audit of previous government’s activities completely appropriate.
He said this in a statement on air of 1+1 TV channel Thursday night, reports UNIAN.
“It is a common practice in all civilized countries. A financial audit is carried out in order to present a true picture of the state the country was transferred in,” said Mr. Yatsenyuk.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada believes that the government led by Viktor Yanukovych should have initiated this issue during the transfer of affairs and reported on it to show the coutnry's current financial status.
According to previous reports, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko already spoke about the need for conducting an anti-corruption audit of all previous government activities during the first days of her work.
In addition, Mr. Yatsenyuk expressed his conviction that there will be no reprivatization in Ukraine.
“I am convinced that there will be no reprivatization list because ownership rights are sacred for an economy wishing to develop,” he noted.
The speaker expressed his hope that the current government won’t make the same mistakes it had made in the past.
When asked if it pertains to Luhanskteplovoz, Mr. Yatsenyuk replied that “law enforcement agencies should decide in this case.”
At the same time, he noted that one can’t say “it will be a certain system and a mechanism worsening Ukraine’s reputation on the international arena will be launched again.”
“If there are abuses, it is possible, but official reprivatization is not on the agenda,” stressed Mr. Yatsenyuk.
Some time ago, BYuT headed by Mrs. Tymoshenko lambasted privatization of Luhanskteplovoz.
President Viktor Yushchenko also claimed that privatization of this enterprise had been carried out with violations to legislation.
