The majority of Minister of Internal Affairs (MIA) deputies resigned – their posts will be taken by a former team of Yuriy Lutsenko, reports Delo newspaper.

According to the information, on Friday several resignations from the minister’s deputies will be on the desk of Mr. Lutsenko who has returned to the post of MIA head. Heads of some MIA departments are also preparing to resign.

Viktor Suslov, deputy minister of economic issues, was among the first to submit his resignation. He wrote it Wednesday but decided to sign it at the Ministry on Friday. The delay took place because of Militia Day.

“We’ll celebrate it in Ukraine Palace, listen to the President’s greetings and resign tomorrow,” said Mr. Suslov to the publication.

“As far as I have understood, the management will be totally changed as Yuriy Volodymyrovych has expressly stated that he would like to work with his former team. And he will review the petitions the day after Militia Day,” he added.

At the same time, chances are Ihor Bilozub, head of the department for combating organized crime, who has already worked as Lutsenko’s subordinate, will stay on his post.

According to NU-NS MP Hennadiy Moskal, who was Lutsenko’s deputy in 2005, the change of personnel is logical.

“When Tsushko was in office the key management had also been dismissed,” reminded the MP and excluded the possibility of his return as deputy head of MIA.

Lutsenko’s companions do not name new deputy ministers but state that their number will be reduced from fifteen to four – three deputies and one first deputy.

Among the most probable MIA candidates is Lidiya Porechkina, former Lutsenko’s deputy on financial issues, who is close to President Yushchenko, reports the publication.

Volodymyr Yevdokymov is expected to become head of the criminal militia department as he had already been in this post during the first term of Lutsenko's head MIA tenure. The MIA investigation department can again be headed by Petro Kolyada, and MIA civil safety department may be led by Volodymyr Rudyk.

The post of deputy minister of human resources and internal safety issues may be given to Oleksandr Novykov, and militia Major General Serhiy Kolomiyets may return to the post of head of State Automobile Inspection.

According to the publication, among those most likely to be dismissed one finds first deputy minister Mykhaylo Korniyenko and seven more deputies: head of criminal militia department Mykola Kupyansky, head of MIA main investigation department Vasyl Bodnar, head of civil safety department Vasyl Fathutdinov, head of MIA internal safety department Mykola Plekhanov, deputy minister on connections with the Verkhovna Rada and other institutions Vasyl Marmazov, head of financial resources and accounting Serhiy Kopytov and head of main headquarters Serhiy Popkov.

In addition, according to Delo’s source in MIA, head of the State Automobile Inspection department Okeksiy Kalinsky is also preparing to resign.
