Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is convinced that a new Prosecutor General will be appointed in Ukraine.
“No doubt, he will [be appointed],” said Mrs. Tymoshenko on Sunday in Donetsk when answering the questions of journalists.
In addition, she stressed that changing a Prosecutor General is a President’s prerogative.
Mrs. Tymoshenko expressed her hope that when a new Prosecutor General is appointed, he will analyze the work of regional offices of public prosecutors and will draw organizational conclusions.
At the same time, during a meeting with the families of those perished in Zasyadko mine Mrs. Tymoshenko noted that a new Prosecutor General will be in charge of investigating the causes of mine accidents.
Mrs. Tymoshenko asked the relatives of the deceased miners who spoke out to introduce themselves and noted that they will also be questioned by the Prosecutor General’s office.
“Please provide your first and last names, and the Prosecutor General’s office, which will soon have a new Prosecutor General, will question everyone with no exceptions,” she said.
According to previous reports, a draft decree on vote of no confidence to Prosecutor General Oleksandr Medvedko has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada; therefore, his dismissal is to follow. The author of draft is MP Yuriy Lutsenko (NU-NS faction).
