Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko promises to achieve success in struggle against inflation within six months and names unprovided-for emission as its reason.
Speaking in Donetsk on Sunday at a meeting with Zasyadko mine staff she informed that during the last six months the National Bank carried out “huge emission, which is absolutely unprovided for by commodities.”
“Now we are curtailing this system, but it will take approximately six months as a huge amount of money was thrown out with no adequate provision,” said the Prime Minister.
Mrs. Tymoshenko noted that the government will take appropriate measures “to remove this amount of money from the market.”
Prime Minister named as another reason of inflation a monopoly arrangement causing price hikes at some markets, in particular sugar and oil markets.
She also informed that the Cabinet of Ministers intends to lower customs duties for imported oil to reduce its price at the Ukrainian market.
Mrs. Tymoshenko noted that a situation emerged in the country when three structures set prices at the internal market, “and a customs duty is introduced at the border so that oil products do not get into the country.” “We want to remove this customs duty so that cheap oil can enter and reduce the price of monopolists,” she said.
Prime Minister also stressed that one of the reasons of price hikes in the country is “uncontrolled monopolies protected by authorities.”
She reminded that during her first term as a Prime Minister she wanted to remedy this situation stressing that she intends to do it now as well. “I do not want to make mistakes I made in 2005 and I will get at them [monopolists] even more smoothly but finally get at them,” said Mrs. Tymoshenko.
She accused Anti-monopoly Committee (AMC) of an arrangement with monopolists and spoke for the change of AMC head. “Our Anti-monopoly Committee is in fact an integral part of these monopolies. It is well-paid,” said Mrs. Tymoshenko.
