The Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych considers appointing businessmen as heads of important state institutions inadmissible.
He said it when commenting on the appointments of Valeriy Khoroshkovsky as the head of customs service, Serhiy Buryak as the head of state tax administration, and Oleg Dubyna as the head of oil and gas administration.
“If big business players are involved in the work of state institutions with significant financial flows, it is inadmissible,” said Mr. Yanukovych.
In his opinion, these appointment decisions will not benefit the country. Meanwhile, Mr. Yanukovych said that he does not hold anything against these people as each of them has sufficient experience in the respective field.
At the same time, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko when commenting on the appointments of the same high officials said that the main task for these people is to show how to organize systematic and corruption-free work of the administrations they have become in charge of.
She characterized Oleg Dubyna as “one of the best crisis managers who can quickly and effectively bring to order such a discredited institution as oil and gas administration.”
“Buryak has an impeccable knowledge of financial situation in the country and I know that he is able to reduce taxes by two and even three times,” explained Mrs. Tymoshenko.
In her opinion, the activities of these high officials will result in the absence of tax-dodgers and order in oil and gas administration and in the customs service.
