Mr. Yarema had once worked at the post before the former IM Vasyl Tsushko took over.
“I consider General Yarema a high professional belonging to my team. He is a person able to settle different matters,” stressed Mr. Lutsenko.
According to him, the Kyiv police must concentrate its efforts on oppressing corruption and economic crimes – the sort of activity which was neglected in 2007.
The IM finds it necessary that the office high officials should revise their personnel policy in the police headquarters.
Mr. Lutsenko says that the Kyiv police turn the blind eye on the money-laundering schemes used by the city authorities as none of the accused has been brought to trial.
“I am not Mr. Lutsenko from 2005. Now I know how and what we must handle,” underlined the IM.
The second task for the capital city police is to combat illicit drug-trafficking in Kyiv, especially selling out illicit drugs in pharmacies.
The Minister is, first of all, interested in the total weight of drugs confiscated and illegal drug-producing laboratories closed up as factors of efficiency of police activities.
His another concern was the state of road traffic in Kyiv. Mr. Lutsenko mentioned that Colonel Anatoliy Sirenko would soon be nominated head of the Kyiv chief road police office, at the same time occupying the post of the first deputy head of a correspondent agency within the Interior Ministry.
Point four of Mr. Lutsenko’s plan was oppressing illegal migration. According to him, Kyiv is now suffering from 10,000 foreigners which earn their living by doing illegal business and organizing ethnic criminal groups.
The last key assignment for the Kyiv police was reducing smuggler turnover.
Mr. Lutsenko also called for avoiding expressing groundless criticism towards former ministry staff.
