Based on current opinion polls it is unlikely that Yushchenko will secure support for a second term even with the support of a populist prime-minister who has sold her soul to the devil and in the process sell out Ukraine's democtratic future. The price she is expected to pay is to see Ukraine revert back to a presidential "rule by decree" dictatorship as opposed to Ukraine developing a European Style parliamentary democracy. The unholy "democratic in name alone" alliance.

Little has changed in voter sentiment with Ukraine remaining as bitterly divided as it was back in 2004. Ukraine's successes are in spit of its politicians and not due them. if anything the repercussions of Yushchenko's unconstitutional actions are still to be played out. the match is not yet over. Ukraine can expect a turbulent and rock road ahead.

I do not think you can claim that Yushchenko's breaches of Ukraine's constitution and interference in the functioning of ukraine's Constitutional Court a triumph. Far from it. Our Ukraine and BYut managed were supported by less then 45% of the electorate and secured a slender parliamentary majority of two only due to the failure of the SPY who were denied representation having missed out by 0.2% falling short of the 3% threshold barrier.
