Journalist Pavel Sheremet died as a result of the detonation of an improvised shell-less explosive device with capacity equal to 400 to 600 grams of TNT, according to preliminary information of the Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Zorian Shkiriak.

Shririak also says it is possible that the device was guided remotely or had delayed onset. Former Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs Anton Herashchenko also thinks the device likely had a remote control.

Herashchenko called the murder "cynical and well-planned", and does not exclude a "Russian trace" in it.

Famous journalist Pavel Sheremet died in a car blast on Wednesday morning, July 20. The car belongs to the founding editor of Ukrayinska Pravda Olena Prytula.
