Equality March Held in Odesa Despite Court Decision and Protests
An Equality March was held in Odesa, despite being banned by a court decision.
According to Dumskaya.net, police were ready to ensure the safety of the participants of the event: traffic on part of Primorsky Boulevard was blocked by police buses. A bomb squad was on duty on the site of the event.
Following a court decision to ban the event, the organizers of the LGBT festival submitted a fresh notice to city hall, which did not go to court to ban it for a second time.
Young men associated with groups including ‘ultras’ and ‘Sokil’ made attempts to stop the March, but clashes between the two groups were prevented by the police.
As of 10:45am, the March finished, and the participants were put on buses and transported from the site.
