Avakov: Interpol Puts Ivaniushchenko on Wanted List Again

Monday, 4 July 2016, 16:48

Interpol has put Yuriy Ivaniushchenko, a close associate of former president Yanukovych, on its wanted list again, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov reported on Monday, July 5.

"Ivaniushchenko has a red notice from Interpol — this means he is wanted to be arrested and further extradited to Ukraine," he said. "Earlier, by manipulating the court decision made by judges with questionable reputations, his lawyers were able to change Ivaniushchenko’s status." However, due to the joint effort of the National Police and Prosecutor General’s Office, his status in the database has been restored.

During a press briefing the Minister said that many people still don’t see Ivaniushchenko in the open part of the Interpol system, because "information in the database is not always in line with the information on the website." He stressed that July 4 was the first working day when Ivaniushcneko was re-included to the database with a red notice.
