Blackouts continue throughout Ukraine except for 3 regions

Thursday, 9 February 2023, 11:35

Due to the shortage of electricity in the system, planned blackouts continue in all oblasts except Kharkiv, Kherson, and Khmelnytskyi, where measurements of actual electricity consumption are taking place on Thursday.

The operator notes that electricity consumption remains significant due to a decrease in temperature. The power shortage remains and is most significant in the evening hours.

At the same time, the situation in the city of Odesa and Odesa Oblast is improving, and large volumes of electricity are gradually being supplied.

Repair work continues at thermal power plants damaged during Russian missile and drone attacks. Ukrenergo also added that electricity is being imported.

The available amount of electricity generated is still insufficient to fully cover consumption and is distributed primarily to energy and critical infrastructure operations, as well as to cover the needs of industry and the population.

On Thursday, consumption limits were not reached in Kharkiv, Kherson, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts, where actual consumption measurements are planned. Consumption restrictions will not be applied in these areas.

The consumption limits for drawing up the daily power outage schedules of all other oblast power companies have been updated. If the limits are exceeded, emergency shutdowns are applied to prevent emergency situations in the power system.
