Quote: "We also discussed the situation in frontline communities and in the south of our country, particularly in Odesa. Odesa deserves greater protection and greater support. This can be done in the format of a military administration – too many security issues in Odesa have remained without an adequate response for far too long.
All effective decisions will be made. I will appoint the head of the military administration shortly."
Details: The president did not mention in his address the termination of Ukrainian citizenship of Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov, which was reported earlier on Tuesday 14 October.
Background:
- Zelenskyy previously instructed General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to consider the possible establishment of a military administration in the city of Odesa.
- Also on Tuesday 14 October, the president revoked the Ukrainian citizenship of Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov. The Security Service of Ukraine reported that Trukhanov holds a Russian passport.
