Russians being blocked in Pokrovsk as they try to infiltrate city – Ukraine's General Staff

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has reported active resistance to Russian infantry in the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast.

Quote: "Measures are being taken to block the enemy, who is trying to infiltrate and amass in the city of Pokrovsk. Active resistance continues against attempts by groups of enemy infantry to gain a foothold.

Ukraine's defence forces are conducting strike-and-search operations in Pokrovsk. In particular, assault units from the 425th Assault Regiment, Unmanned Systems Forces operators and combined groups of the Special Operations Forces, the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Guard and Defence Intelligence of Ukraine are involved. Military units defending the city have been reinforced."

Details: The Russians have tried to advance on Ukrainian positions on the Pokrovsk front 93 times since the beginning of the day.

They attacked near the settlements of Maiak, Nykanorivka, Fedorivka, Chervonyi Lyman, Myroliubivka, Pokrovsk, Lysivka, Zvirove, Novopavlivka, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Muravka, Filiia and Yalta. Fighting is still ongoing in some locations.

Early reports indicated that Russia had lost 119 soldiers on this front on 5 November, with 94 of them being killed. Ukrainian soldiers also struck 12 shelters for personnel, a UAV antenna, a ground-based unmanned system and one Russian vehicle.

Background:

• Earlier on 5 November, assault troops from Ukraine's Skelia unit, the 425th Separate Assault Regiment, reported that they had conducted a mop-up operation in the city council building in Pokrovsk and raised the Ukrainian flag over it.
• President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the special forces from Alpha Special Operations Centre of the Security Service of Ukraine for their successful actions in destroying Russian troops in Pokrovsk and its outskirts.
