Details: Bloomberg's report appeared in the context of meetings in Abu Dhabi between US Under Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll and a Russian delegation.
Media outlets wrote that Driscoll was expected to show the Russians the edited document, which was based on the original 28-point US "peace plan". After the meeting in Geneva, it was shortened to 19 points, with a number of contentious provisions removed.
Nevertheless, Bloomberg noted that Russian officials described the updated plan as "futile".
Background:
- The United States and Ukraine developed a new 19-point peace agreement during the Geneva talks but left the most politically sensitive issues for the two presidents to decide.
- Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsia has explained how the new peace agreement is being protected from leaks.
