Russians continue drone attacks on several Ukrainian oblasts on 1 January
Russian drones continue to attack Ukrainian cities on 1 January, particularly in Volyn, Odesa, Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts.

Details: From midday on 1 January, the Air Force has reported Russian drone attacks, in particular in Volyn and Odesa oblasts. Drones have also been observed in Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts.
At 15:24, the Air Force reported that "enemy reconnaissance UAVs are operating near Kharkiv and in the north of Chernihiv Oblast, which may be used to guide Russian strike assets".
At 15:38, the Air Force reported Russian UAVs moving towards the city of Sumy and towards the city of Kovel in Volyn Oblast from the north, as well as towards the settlement of Sarata in Odesa Oblast.
Background:
- On the night of 31 December-1 January, Volyn Oblast came under a large-scale Russian drone attack, with reports of hits on critical infrastructure facilities and power outages.
- On 1 January, Russian forces also attacked the cities of Kherson and Kharkiv. In Kherson, a 31-year-old man was killed and an 87-year-old woman was injured, while another person was injured in the outskirts of Kharkiv.
- The Air Force reported that from the evening of 31 December to the morning of 1 January, the Russians attacked Ukraine with 205 strike UAVs. A total of 176 UAVs were downed or jammed, while hits by 24 attack UAVs were recorded at 15 locations.
