"Very positive conversation": Zelenskyy speaks with Trump's envoys Witkoff and Kushner
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he held a phone conversation with representatives of the President of the United States, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

I am grateful for their readiness to work as actively as possible in the coming weeks to reinvigorate diplomacy aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine."
Details: Zelenskyy added that much of the world's attention is currently focused on developments surrounding Iran, but stressed that "our shared goal of peace in Europe remains on the agenda".
Quote: "We discussed prospects in the context of the G7 Summit and other events in June. I outlined the data we have regarding what Moscow is intent on. I am grateful for the words of respect for Ukrainians and the positive assessment of Ukraine's positions. Thank you, America! Thank you to Moldova for the hospitality."
Background:
- In his open letter of 4 June, Zelenskyy proposed that Russian leader Vladimir Putin set a date and meet to end the war, calling for Europe and the US to be involved in the Russia-Ukraine negotiations.
- On 5 June, Putin stated that he had read Zelenskyy's open letter and "sees no point in holding a meeting". The Russian leader also said that Zelenskyy had allegedly asked him for a meeting through a Russian businessman.
- The Financial Times reported that in May, Zelenskyy had passed a message proposing a meeting to Putin through Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
