Project Launched to Monitor Activities and Assets of Judges

Ukrainian watchdog Automaidan launched the Prosud project to monitor the activity of Ukrainian judges, the project’s Facebook page reports.

"We are here to supervise the judicial system. Judges are some of the most closed and most prone to corruption officials. Therefore, judicial reform should be high on our country’s agenda," it claims.

The project created a website prosud.info where income declarations of judges will be analyzed and checked against property registers. So far, declarations of 7 766 judges have been published on the website.

"Every judge has his or her ‘profile’, displaying the official income of the judge and his/her family members and real estate belonging to them. Performance of a judge can be also monitored, for instance, number of cases considered and number of complaints against him or her," the project adds.

If a discrepancy between official declaration and actual value of assets is identified, Automaidan activists will make a visit to the judge and submit this information to the competent authorities.

The project encourages everyone with information about illegal enrichment of judges to report it through a special template.
