The National Police service has theories on who organized surveillance of one of the leaders of Ukrayinska Pravda Pavel Sheremet, Vadym Troyan of the National Police stated on 112 Ukraine TV channel.

He reminded that after returning from vacation he asked the Chief of the National Police Khatia Dekanoidze to organize an internal investigation of the illegal surveillance of Pavel Sheremet and Ukrayinska Pravda Founding Editor Olena Prytula.

"The investigation was completed, its findings have been submitted to the prosecutors. The outcome of the investigation is that no legal or illegal acts were organized by the National Police against Sheremet or his family," — stated Troyan.

Addressing Sheremet’s accusation that he faced surveillance long before his death, Troyan also noted that the investigators "have theories on who could have organized the surveillance" back in 2015.

In July 2016 a number of websites published reports that Troyan himself allegedly organized surveillance of Sheremet. Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko stated that an investigation of Troyan was launched.

The National Police later announced that the internal investigation found Troyan never organized surveillance of Pavel Sheremet.
