Detentions of state officials last week are just the first step in removing corruption from the government, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stressed on July 3 on Inter TV channel.

"We are just starting the project. I believe we will up-scale our efforts drastically. I believe that Prosecutor General Lutsenko has an ambitious commitment towards putting the government in order," PM said.

He also highlighted that in addition to prosecution of corrupt officials, the government has to create an environment ‘where corruption cannot emerge.’ "I am sure that day by day, we will be able to observe the outcomes of combatting corruption," Groysman stated.

On June 30, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) detained Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Sviatoslav Protas along with Director of a Department of the State Sanitary Service Oleksandr Chepurnyi. They were accused of embezzlement of a large amount of government money.
