Quote: "I finally saw my husband in free Ukraine today after he had been kept prisoner for 46 days. He stayed in his hometown of Nova Kakhovka from the first days of the war to help people survive the occupation."

Details: Liudmyla Vasylieva thanked everyone who assisted with Vasiliev's release. She noted that Nova Kakhovka city authorities had not offered any sort of help in the matter.

"Dmytro Vasyliyev did not cooperate with the aggressors and was punished for his pro-Ukrainian position with 46 days in captivity, unlike other ‘patriots’ who were freed after just 2-3 days," Liudmyla Vasylieva added.

Background: Nova Kakhovka is occupied by Russian troops.

Dmytro Vasyliev was abducted on 16 March. Earlier, his wife reported that the Secretary was subjected to physical and mental abuse and coercion, including torture.
