OLHA KYRYLENKO, OLENA ROSCHINA - TUESDAY, 28 JUNE 2022, 11:17

Russian troops fired 8 missiles at Mykolaiv on the morning of 28 June, damaging the abandoned base of the 79th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the city's central stadium.

Quote: "Eight missiles targeted the city today: three of them were successfully shot down, the others continued their trajectory and struck different places in the city of Mykolaiv.

Two of them struck the base of the 79th brigade. At the beginning of the war, one of the barracks was destroyed with a targeted strike [by Russian forces]. Today, this base is empty, there is no one there and it is periodically shelled by Russian troops. Today one of the buildings has been destroyed, another has been partially destroyed. Thank God, no-one was hurt - neither civilians nor the military.

Another missile struck our central stadium. It is good that no-one was killed, nobody was there. Last year we completed a new administrative and maintenance building - everything was new in there… [It is] destroyed. We constructed a brand-new heated field - the missile hit it, right in the stadium bowl, leaving behind a crater 15 m wide and 5 m deep."

Details: Senkevych said that as of the morning of 28 June, there were no dead or injured in Mykolaiv. Windows had been broken in the homes neighbouring the shelled facilities.

And the stadium can be rebuilt, said the mayor.
