Quote: "79% believe that the borders should be closed between Ukraine and Russia with visas and customs. Only 11% believe that both countries should be independent but friendly states with open borders without visas and customs. Also, only 1% of respondents are in favour of unification into one state".

Details: According to sociologists, since February 2022, the share of those who believe that there should be a visa system between Ukraine and Russia has increased from 44% to 79%. On the other hand, the number of those who advocate "friendly" relationships [between two countries] has decreased from 48% to 11%. The share of those who want the unification of the two states into one has decreased from 5% to 1%.

Judging by the regional distribution graph, the majority in the south and east back in February advocated "friendly" relations, but now a larger percentage supports the availability of visas and customs.

76% among Russian-speaking Ukrainians want closed borders, and 78% of bilingual Ukrainians support this idea.

Background: The decision on a visa system for citizens of the Russian Federation came into force on 1 July 2022. Now every Russian will have to justify the purpose of their trip to Ukraine in advance.
