Ukrainian troops have conducted training in Kyiv Oblast to counter Russian airborne assault and destroy reconnaissance and sabotage groups in urban areas.

Source: Serhii Naiev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Details: Naiev said that a joint training session has been held for the troops performing tasks in the Chornobyl zone to protect critical infrastructure facilities.

Units of the Armed Forces, the National Guard, the State Border Guard Service, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the National Police have taken part in the exercise.

Quote from Naiev: "The unit commanders were performing a task to counter the capture of an important state facility.

These training sessions were conducted in accordance with the units' combat training plans and will continue to be conducted in the future to improve [our] defence potential.

We have adopted this approach from the leading NATO member states. Its effectiveness lies in the fact that every unit, every serviceman works to acquire the capabilities to perform a whole range of tasks."

Background: Yurii Ihnat, a spokesman for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, considers the scenario of a Russian landing in Kyiv or on the territory of Ukraine as "unrealistic" in general.
