Israel reports over 100 fatalities, Palestine almost 200

An attack by Hamas on Israel's southern and central areas has claimed the lives of at least 100 people and left over 900 injured.

Details: The Israeli Ministry of Health reported that at least 100 people were killed and 908 injured in a Hamas terrorist attack on Israel's southern and central regions.

Meanwhile, the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health in Gaza reports that 198 Palestinians have been killed and 1,610 injured since the group's attack on Saturday morning, 7 October.

Hamas Deputy Head Saleh al-Arouri claimed in an interview with Al Jazeera that the group had captured "a large number" of Israelis and there are "senior officers" among them.

The Israel Defence Forces’ top spokesman, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, has confirmed that Hamas has taken several Israeli citizens hostage in the Gaza Strip.

Hagari said that fighting continues across 22 sites, and hostages were taken in Be’eri and Ofakim.

According to Hagari, Israeli forces have been able to enter every city on the border with Gaza to inspect each of them.
