Military Administration created in Sumy and its head appointed

Oleksii Drozdenko, the current deputy head of Sumy Oblast Military Administration, has been appointed head of the newly-created Sumy City Military Administration.

Quote from the order: "Oleksii Oleksandrovych Drozdenko shall be appointed as head of the Sumy City Military Administration of the Sumy District of Sumy Oblast." 

For reference: Drozdenko was appointed as deputy head of Sumy Oblast Military Administration at the end of June this year. He is the dean of the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technologies at Sumy State University and holds a PhD in physics and mathematics [the first of two doctoral-level scientific degrees in Ukraine – ed.].

It was reported that Drozdenko was to be responsible for digital development, digital transformation and digitalisation in the Oblast Military Administration. 

Background: 

  • On 2 October, law enforcement officers exposed Sumy Mayor Oleksandr Lysenko and a director of one of the city council departments as being involved in bribery.
  • On the evening of 4 October, Lysenko was remanded in custody with the possibility of bail. On 6 October, it became known that he had been released on bail.
  • On 26 October, it became known that law enforcement officers were conducting searches at the office of Yuliia Pavlyk, the acting mayor of the city of Sumy.
