Poroshenko Asked Hollande to Facilitate Visas for Euro 2016 Fans

In a telephone conversation with the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and the President of France François Hollande, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko asked to facilitate visa-free travel in the EU for Ukrainian citizens, the press service of the Ukrainian head of state reports.

Poroshenko also asked Hollande to facilitate the issuance of visas for Ukrainian football fans who plan to attend Euro 2016 matches in France. The French consulate previously refused a Schengen visa to a famous young fan Volodymyr Bobenchyk, despite his parents submitting tickets for matches and return plane tickets.

The President also spoke of violation of the ceasefire by pro-Russian militants, which hinders the political resolution of the conflict in Donbas. All parties agreed that the question of security and regaining control over the state border were very important for Ukraine and concluded that sanctions against Russia should remain in place until full compliance with the Minsk Agreements.
