MPs Nayyem, Leshchenko, and Zalishchuk Join Democratic Alliance

MPs from Petro Poroshenko Bloc Mustafa Nayyem, Serhiy Leshchenko, and Svitlana Zalishchuk, as well as independent MP Victoria Ptashnyk became members of the Democratic Alliance party, Ptashnyk told Ukrayinska Pravda on July 9.

"I wrote an application to join the party, and it has already been approved," said the MP. Answering a question about whether Nayyem, Leshchenko, and Zalishchuk also became members of Democratic Alliance, she said "Them, too."

Speaking at the party congress, Mustafa Nayyem said he needed experience in the parliament to understand that one needs a team to do what he wants to do. "It is not us joining the party, it is the party incorporating us," he said.

In his speech, Serhiy Leshchenko said that Ukraine was ‘destined to fight corruption’, and that the current parliament ‘was doomed’, and the country was moving towards new elections. He added that negotiations about joining efforts with politicians who are establishing new parties is still underway.
