Russians hold Сhernobyl power plant staff hostage for tenth day

Workers of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant have been held hostage at the plant for ten days, since its capture by Russian troops on 24 February.

Details: The Mayor noted that the staff cannot be replaced and that those currently at the station have been working for ten days straight. They have split into two groups and are working shifts. They have limited access to food and medicine. Fomichev said that "their relatives and loved ones here, in Slavutych, are very worried; they don’t know what to do…"

Background: On 24 February the Russian troops captured the Chernobyl nuclear power plant after a fierce battle. The staff are being held hostage. The station is currently operating as normal. Ukraine declared the Russian seizure of Chernobyl nuclear terrorism.
