Ukraine’s General Staff: Russia completing movement of key divisions in preparation for Donbas assault

The Ukrainian intelligence services reports that Russian troops are completing essential manoeuvres and movement of their key divisions before commencing a major assault on the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The movement of divisions of the 41st General Army and the 90th Tank Division of the Central Military District to specified districts of Belgorod and Voronezh Oblasts is being completed.

Near the town of Izyum, the occupiers have regrouped their units, have replenished their stocks of material and technical means, and have focused on maintaining a pontoon crossing over the Severskiy Donets River. Aerial reconnaissance of the area with the use of unmanned aerial vehicles continues. To strengthen the group, separate units of the 1st Tank Army of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have been moved to this area."

Details: The General Staff believes that the Russian authorities have strengthened police control in the oblasts bordering Ukraine, to prevent and complicate video-recording of  Russian military manoeuvres by local residents.

In the Eastern Military District of the Russian Federation, the Russian forces are carrying out enhanced training of junior specialists and coordination of Rosgvardia units and their movement to the border with Ukraine.

Russia continues to shell residential areas of Kharkiv, Derhachi, and Pyatykhatky.

During the day on April 12, Russian troops tried to improve their positions near the settlements of Popasna, Stepne, Rubizhne, and Nizhne, but did not succeed.

Russians troops shelled Mykolaiv and Oleksandrivka with multiple launch rocket systems.

The battle for Mariupol continues.
