Kateryna Tyshchenko – Tuesday, 26 April 2022, 18:35

According to Monastyrskyi: "The tragedy that happened 36 years ago must not be repeated. But unfortunately tanks firing on nuclear facilities can lead to an enormous tragedy.

What we are doing today is ensuring a full-scale preparedness for any threat. This threat is not past yet. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, border guards, national guard, and police are all working together…We can’t publicly discuss all of the measures, but today all necessary measures are being taken to prevent a possible enemy invasion."

Details: The Minister noted that if Russia believes that any of the steps it can take, including those that may involve nuclear facilities, could bring it military success, it will not stop.

"Only the fact that we have made their military success on this territory impossible made them retreat from the territory of the nuclear power plant. If they had even one chance out of 100 to succeed, they would have used it," Minister of Internal Affairs added.

According to Oleksandr Pavliuk, Head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the defence plan is currently being prepared for the area, taking into account the possibility of another Russian assault.

"We have taken into account every route that Russian troops used to invade [this area]. Defence is being organised with the possibility of another assault in mind. We are currently fitting out our positions, destroying river crossings that they used to get here; the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are taking their positions. We will do everything to prevent them from entering here," he said.
