Luhansk Oblast: Russia deploys aircraft in a struggle to break through Ukrainian defence

Quote from Haidai: "The invaders, who have so far been unable to break through the Ukrainian defence line, are increasingly deploying aircraft. On 2 August alone, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the vicinity of eight towns and villages situated on the administrative border of Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts."

Details: The head of the oblast military administration has said that the Russians are assaulting the Ukrainian Armed Forces from different directions in an attempt to pin down Ukrainian units in the area in order to prevent them from being transferred to other fronts.

On 2 August, Russian forces used multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) to strike towns and villages on the Ukrainian defence line six times. In addition, the Russians repeatedly used mortars throughout the day.

The main efforts of the Russian forces are focused on the Bakhmut front.

Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled nine Russian assault operations, forcing the Russians to retreat.

Haidai has also noted that it is extremely dangerous to remain in houses that have been damaged by Russian occupying forces in Luhansk Oblast.

As an example, Haidai mentioned a recent case of the collapse of an apartment building on Partyzanska Street in Sievierodonetsk. The building, which had earlier sustained critical damage, collapsed in the middle of the day, while there were passersby on the street.

It is not yet known whether anyone was inside the building when it collapsed.
