Rocket attack on Zaporizhzhia on 6 October: death toll rises to 11, 15 people still missing

The death toll in Zaporizhzhia following the rocket attacks on the city centre that occurred on 6 October has increased to 11.

Quote from Kurtiev: "Search and rescue operations at the scenes of the buildings destroyed by rockets continued through the night.

As of 05:00, 21 people have been rescued; 13 of them were hospitalised. Unfortunately, the number of casualties of the attacks has increased.

At one address, seven bodies were recovered from under the rubble. Three bodies were recovered at another address, and one body from yet another.

11 people are known to have been killed in total. At least 15 more people are still missing."

Details: The State Emergency Service reported that eight bodies were recovered from the rubble of a five-storey residential building, six people were rescued and five of them were hospitalised. Three bodies were recovered from the rubble of a four-storey residential building, 15 people were rescued and eight of them were hospitalised.  A total of 21 people were rescued and 11 people were killed.

Rescue workers have now given utility services the go-ahead to clean up the aftermath of the attacks.

"Workers from the utility service have been working since this morning, but there is a shortage of workers, so anyone who wants to can join in the clean-up after the latest strikes," said Kurtiev.

After this report, Russian troops launched another rocket attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia.
