Quote: "Yesterday [on 10 November], the Prime Minister of Romania and I opened a new checkpoint on the common border. The first one since 1998, which was built from scratch. However, not the last one. Together with our European neighbours in the west, we are working to ensure that the borders do not divide us, but unite us.

In the same vein, the Government [of Ukraine – ed.] today [11 November] decided to expand the water area of seaports on the Danube. The ports in question are those in Izmail, Reni [cities in Odesa Oblast] and the port of Ust-Dunaisk. Over the past 6 months, we have managed to increase the cargo turnover of these ports from 30,000 tonnes per month to 1.7 million tonnes. It's over 50 times more. And even this is not the limit. We see that there are up to hundreds of ships queuing to enter these ports, and therefore we are working to expand their capacity.

Today's government decision is aimed at this. Moreover, it will increase the safety of navigation on the Danube, in particular the control and maintenance of the declared depths," the Prime Minister said.

Details: According to Shmyhal, Ukraine will be able to increase exports and strengthen economic stability by this opening of new checkpoints and expansion of the Danube ports.
