One-third of Ukraine’s territory, an area twice the size of Austria, is mined

Currently, about 30% of the territory of Ukraine has been mined as a result of the aggression unleashed by the Russian Federation, an area which is approximately twice the size of Austria.

Source: Serhii Kruk, head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, on the national joint 24/7 newscast, reports the State Emergency Service’s website

Quote: "The area and volumes of mining in the territory of Ukraine have increased by 10 times compared to the pre-war period."

Details: Kruk noted that intensive mine clearance is ongoing in liberated territories in Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. An area of more than 8,000 sq. km needs to be cleared - about 7,000 sq. km in Kherson Oblast and up to 1,500 sq. km in Mykolaiv Oblast.

"I hope that electricity will be restored in the liberated territories in the coming days and vital infrastructure will start working again. The services working there will take a few months to restore adequate living conditions in the territory of Kherson Oblast," Kruk said.
