"As you may know, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, entrusted the Minister of Defence to consider this issue. So far I can say that the decision has not been made. But no decision is out of the realm of possibility",  Colonna replied when asked about potential supply of the Leclerc heavy tanks to Ukraine.

"We are constantly discussing the needs of Ukraine in the defence sector with its authorities. The fact that this aspect was the main point of our discussion with the Defence Minister proves that", she added.

She stated separately that at the moment, getting additional air defence systems is the priority for Ukraine.

"This is what the Minister of Defence of Ukraine requested yesterday. I think we will respond to this request correspondingly", the French Minister stated.

Élisabeth Borne, the Prime-Minister of France, reported on 25 January that France continued to consider the possibility of handing its heavy Leclerc tanks over to Ukraine.

Last weekend, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, laid out the conditions for supplying heavy tanks and added that at the moment "nothing is ruled out."
