President Volodymyr Zelenskyy comments on Russia's massive missile strike on Ukraine, saying there were hits and casualties.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "The enemy launched at least 70 missiles in the latest massive attack this morning [10 February]. At least 60 missiles have been shot down. All of their targets were civilians and civilian infrastructure. Unfortunately, there were hits and fatalities. I express condolences to their families!"

Details: He also said that several Russian missiles had passed through the airspace of Moldova and Romania. "These missiles are a challenge to NATO and collective security. This is terror that can and must be stopped. The world must stop it," the president said.

He thanked everyone who understands this and helps, as well as the Ukrainian Air Force, and all anti-aircraft gunners, "each and every one who defends Ukraine and our people."

Background:

  • An air-raid siren was sounded throughout Ukraine on the morning of 10 February. The Ukrainian Air Defence Forces reported activation of air defence systems and Russian missiles hitting infrastructure facilities.
  • Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that Ukrainian defenders shot down 61 out of 71 Russian-launched cruise missiles on the evening of 9 February and the morning of 10 February.
