Childbirth during wartime: Kherson Police take pregnant woman to delivery ward under fire

Patrol policemen have helped a woman in her last month of pregnancy get to the hospital in Kherson, during another shelling of the city.

In complete darkness, accompanied by the sounds of explosions, the crew escorted the car with the woman in labour on board to the medical facility, where doctors were waiting for her, the National Police reported.

According to law enforcement officials, patrol police officers from Odesa, who serve in Kherson Oblast, received a call to help a woman who was in her last month of pregnancy.

As a result of explosions and stress, she began to experience premature labour and her waters broke.

"The woman has decided to give birth at a 'fun time' and at a dangerous moment, so there are no options. We are on our way," the law enforcement officers said on the way to the medical facility.

That day, the woman gave birth to a girl weighing 3 kilograms and 51 cm tall.

The next day, the patrol policemen visited the new mother to congratulate her on the birth of her daughter, Maria.
