Ukraine is preparing for possible strikes on power plants in the autumn as the Russians continue to produce missiles, and their previous campaign to destroy the Ukrainian energy system failed to reach its goal.

Quote: "We are preparing. We understand this problem, and our partners also understand this problem. And, I repeat, air defence is one of the priorities for today to improve the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he said.

Skibitskyi stressed that to cover strategic objects, civilian cities and villages, more air defence systems are needed.

Quote: "All measures are being taken to strengthen our air defence system and obtain new air defence systems. The Ramstein conference was also aimed at this. One of today's key and priority issues is air defence, which is missiles, and this is the possibility of increasing the number of modern air defence systems," he said.

According to Skibitskyi, Russia did not achieve its goal in the first campaign of attacks on the energy sector.

"Our power supply and power generation system have survived. We survived the winter normally," he said.

However, the production of missiles in Russia continues, and therefore, the Defence Intelligence does not rule out attempts to leave Ukraine without electricity this autumn.

At the same time, he stressed that foreign air defence systems are quite effective.

Quote: "They are much more effective in their application and potential than Russian-made missiles. This is evidenced by the percentage of how much we shoot down – even our foreign partners are surprised at how professionally our military works," he stressed.

Background: The Russians brought Bal coastal missile systems with Kh-35 missiles to Bryansk Oblast. This increases threats to Kyiv and seven oblasts: Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv.

At the same time, it is already known that Raytheon Technologies plans to produce five more Patriot batteries for Ukraine by the end of 2024.
