Russian Krasnodar Krai authorities urge people not to use Crimean Bridge

Veniamin Kondratiev, the governor of Russia's Krasnodar Krai, has urged residents of the region to refrain from travelling across the Crimean Bridge.

Details: To travel to the peninsula, the Russian governor has suggested choosing an "alternative route" through the occupied Ukrainian territories.

Earlier, the so-called head of occupied Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, made a similar appeal to Crimeans.

  • On the night of 16-17 July, Sergey Aksyonov reported that an "emergency" had occurred on the Crimean Bridge and that traffic on the bridge was suspended.
  • Russian Telegram channels reported that a span of the bridge had "collapsed".
  • According to the Astra Telegram channel, at least two explosions were heard before the "collapse" of the Crimean Bridge span.
