The Ukrainian military killed Russian Colonel Yevgeny Vashunin, who commanded the Leningrad Regiment.

Details: Belsky said Vashunin was fatally wounded on 14 July when he and his unit tried to help the occupiers of the Storm unit, who had been encircled.

He claimed that Vashunin and his support group moved to meet the unit. Their movement was spotted by the Ukrainian military and a combat clash ensued. During the clash, Colonel Vashunin was "cut off" from his brothers-in-arms and seriously wounded. He died.

Fontanka reported that the Leningrad Regiment was formed mainly of conscripts from Saint Petersburg.
