Erdoğan in Hungary will discuss war in Ukraine and situation in Black Sea
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Türkiye, will discuss with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine during a visit to Hungary on Sunday, 20 August.

Details: Erdoğan's visit to Hungary had been announced earlier, but now the details of the Turkish president's talks with the Hungarian prime minister have become known.
Erdoğan and Orbán will discuss "the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the common interests of Türkiye and Hungary" in addition to bilateral relations and the upcoming 100th anniversary of establishing bilateral diplomatic relations.
Quote: "A road map will be defined that should be followed in order not to increase tensions in the Black Sea," the statement said without elaborating.
In addition, the leaders of Türkiye and Hungary will discuss in detail the "policy of NATO expansion" and relations with the European Union, which is probably related to Sweden's membership and Ankara's aspirations to get closer to the EU.

- The German Bild media outlet reported that Erdoğan in Hungary may meet with Putin's representative – Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan – and allegedly conclude an agreement on the transit of Russian grain in exchange for Moscow's return to the grain agreement.
- Such a deal is dangerous for Kyiv because, first, it would allow Moscow to legitimise the export of grain stolen from the temporarily occupied territories in Ukraine, and second, it would limit its ability to hit Russian warships in the Black Sea.
