Substation on fire in Moscow

A transforming power substation, Chagino in Moscow’s Lyublino district, caught fire on the night of 23-24 November.

Details: The news agencies reported that the grid had been disconnected in the transformer where the fire occurred in order to put out the fire at the substation.

The fire covered an area of several metres, and a large plume of smoke could be seen from afar. A video from the scene was also posted on the internet.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed this morning that the fire had taken place.

Quote: "Firefighters have extinguished a fire in Moscow. A transformer in the South-Eastern Administrative District caught fire. The fire was quickly extinguished by 70 firefighters and 20 appliances."

The ministry stated that the fire had not affected the functioning of Moscow's power supply systems.
