Co-author of Ukraine's Independence Declaration Act passes away

Leontii Sanduliak, the co-author of the Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine and one of the founders of the People's Movement of Ukraine party, died on Sunday. [People's Movement of Ukraine was the first opposition party in Soviet Ukraine – ed.]

Quote: "At the age of 87, Leontii Ivanovych Sanduliak, the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Romania, co-author of the Act of Declaration of State Independence of Ukraine, honorary resident of Chernivtsi, has passed away." 

Details: The National Museum of the History of Ukraine states that the draft of the Act of Declaration  of Independence of Ukraine was written by Levko Lukianenko jointly with Leontii Sanduliak on the morning of 23 August 1991.

Levko Lukianenko died on 7 July 2018.
