Ukraine's Air Force downs 9 out of 10 Shahed UAVs launched by Russians

Ukrainian air defence forces shot down 9 out of 10 Russian drones during the afternoon attack on Monday, 1 January.

Quote: "At about 14:00 on 1 January 2024, Russian invaders launched 10 assault UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type from the north.

Air defence destroyed nine enemy Shahed drones.

One Kh-59 guided aircraft missile was also destroyed in the eastern direction."

Background: 

• An air-raid warning was issued in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast. Reportedly, air defence forces were downing Russian drones.
• The Russians launched a record number of Shahed attack UAVs on Ukraine on the night of 31 December-1 January. The Ukrainian air defence forces managed to down 87 out of 90 of them.
