"The discussion was not an easy one. There are some serious issues. There are real difficulties. I have familiarised myself with the details and asked [the representatives – ed.] to do the necessary groundwork to ensure that all complications between government officials, business, and law enforcers are resolved.

Everyone can have their own opinion, yes, but in times of war we all have to be united by one task – the strength of Ukraine, the strength of our society and our economy," the president said.

Zelenskyy added that all the developments will be presented at the National Security and Defence Council.

Background: On 19 January, the Pechersk District Court, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, remanded Ihor Mazepa, an investment banker and founder of Concorde Capital, in custody with an alternative of bail in the amount of UAH 349 million [roughly US$9,3 million].

On 18 January, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) detained Ukrainian businessman and founder of the investment company Concorde Capital, Ihor Mazepa, as he was crossing the Ukrainian-Polish border. On the morning of 19 January, the SBI confirmed Mazepa's detention.

The SBI detained businessman Ihor Mazepa over the illegal privatisation of land plots in Kyiv Oblast. The case file lists Mazepa as "the mastermind behind the land acquisition".

On the night of 21-22 January, Mazepa’s house burned down.

The lawyers of Mazepa filed an appeal against the ruling of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv on 19 January.

The Manifesto 42 business movement announced a temporary shutdown of businesses as a warning to the authorities if they continue to ignore the "arbitrariness of the security forces in the country's rear".
