A trident, the coat of arms of Ukraine, has decorated the side of a Military Commissariat in the town of Mohocha in the Trans-Baikal region of the Russian Federation since the 1980s. Local authorities say it was the Ukrainian builders who placed it there.
Source: Nataliya Veko, mayor of the town, in a comment to local news outlet Chita.ru
Quote: "This place was built back in the 1980s or the 1990s by Ukrainian workers. The trident is made of bricks, it is convex. We can't just paint it over. When the first report about it appeared, the authorities were notified. There was a big discussion. There were supporters for both removing it and leaving it."
Details: Veko added that it was decided not to remove the symbol from the building. She explained that it would be problematic to do so.
Reminder: Earlier, in a kindergarten in the Russian city of Chita, children were given certificates with the image of the Ukrainian coat of arms, which later led to the head of the kindergarten’s dismissal.
