Belarus is checking combat readiness of its armed forces, supposedly according to schedule

The Ministry of Defence of Belarus has announced the start of combat training for the country's armed forces.

Details: The military department says that they want to check combat and mobilisation readiness at the required level as well as to improve coordination of military command and control bodies.

The Belarusian forces also aim to improve the practical skills of commanders as well as train personnel to act in various conditions and situations.

Background:

  • Recently, Lieutenant General and the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhii Naiev, said that the accumulation of the Russian-Belorusian combined force continued on the territory of Belarus, so the defenders were preparing for a due response to this.
  • Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko blamed Ukraine and NATO for a growing number of provocations near the Belarusian-Ukrainian border and said that Ukraine was trying to drag NATO forces into the war.
  • According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Alexander Lukashenko made statements about the threat from NATO to emphasise the need to protect Belarus and avoid getting involved in the war in Ukraine.
