Police Explain Why Facial Composites of Sheremet Murderers Not Yet Published

Police should accurately define the suspects in the case of journalist Pavel Sheremet’s murder before publishing the facial composites, a source in the National Police told Ukrayinska Pravda.

"We will publish them, but can’t say when," a source said, "We can’t make facial composites public for the sake of the investigation."

According to a source, the main line of enquiry is the professional activity of Sheremet, while the National Police are also probing other plots. "We have already got some important details, but it’s too early to share them," a source added.

The interlocutor also told Ukrayinska Pravda that FBI specialists had reviewed the car and identified the type of explosive.

Pavel Sheremet, one of Ukrayinska Pravda leading journalists, died on the morning of July 20, 2016 after his car, which was owned by the Founding Editor of Ukrayinska Pravda Olena Prytula, exploded.

Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko named the professional activity of Sheremet as the main motive of the assassination.

On July 22, the case was transferred to the Main investigative department of the Interior Ministry, while the Prosecutor General’s Office provides procedural supervision.

On the same day, mass media published a video of the alleged planting of the car bomb.
