Quote from Klychko: "The capital is under attack by Russian terrorists! Rockets hit facilities in the city centre (in the Shevchenkivskyi district) and in the Solomianskyi district. The air-raid siren is on, which means the threat continues."

Details: The mayor added that the central streets of Kyiv are blocked by law enforcement officers, and rescue services are at work.

Klychko called on the residents of the capital to stay in shelters during the air-raid siren.

"If there is no urgent need, it is better not to go to the city today. I am also asking the residents of the suburbs not to go to the capital today," the mayor emphasised.

Ukrainska Pravda correspondents report that around 9:35, 2 more explosions rang out in the city centre.

Later, the mayor added that critical infrastructure in Kyiv was hit; casualties were reported. All services are working at the scenes.

Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways] reported that a blast wave broke the windows of Kyiv’s central station.

At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia stressed that the railway station is working – the disembarkation and boarding of trains is carried out through the western and eastern underground passages, which also serve as shelters.

Background:

  • On the morning of 10 October, several explosions rang out in the centre of the capital, causing casualties and fatalities. The movement of trains on the red line of the metro is suspended.
  • Explosions are also heard in other cities of Ukraine: Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, and Lviv.
