Quote: "In Tokmak, additional defensive fortifications were being built and trenches filled with concrete. Russian officers have also started to evacuate their families from Tokmak. Fortifications were observed on the southern approach from Robotyne, the axis of Ukrainian forces," the UK Defence Intelligence noted.

Details: Analysts say the bunkers are intended to provide more reliable protection for soldiers and officers from artillery and kamikaze drones. Furthermore, the concrete is likely to further strengthen the trenches in the autumn mud.

"These fortifications and evacuations likely reflect Russia's concern of a further Ukrainian breakthrough," the UK MoD stated.

Background: Earlier, the UK MoD described as very plausible the reports that Russian air defence forces had shot down their Russian Air Force's Su-35 fighter jet over Tokmak in late September, noting that it was a rare case of losing this up-to-date fighter.
